Hashi Market Announces First West Coast Location in Cupertino

Exciting Expansion: Hashi Market to Open in Cupertino

Hashi Market, a prominent Japanese supermarket headquartered in New York City, is gearing up to launch its inaugural West Coast store in the vibrant city of Cupertino. The new retail space will be situated at 20558 Stevens Creek Blvd., occupying an expansive 20,900-square-foot area that was formerly leased by Sprouts Farmers Market, which closed its doors in 2023.

This innovative marketplace combines elements of a supermarket, a department store, and a catering service, offering an extensive selection of authentic Japanese products. Customers can look forward to a diverse array of fresh produce, traditional snacks, freshly prepared bento boxes, and sushi. The store is operated by Takayama International Inc., which recently opened its flagship location in New York City just two months prior to this announcement.

While an official opening date has not yet been announced, Hashi Market’s move into the Bay Area reflects a broader trend of Asian grocery stores expanding in the region. Upcoming grocery outlets include Mega Mart and H Mart in Dublin, Jagalchi in Daly City, Canada-based T&T Supermarket in San Jose, and Japan-based Tokyo Central in Emeryville. Notably, Tokyo Central already operates a store less than a mile away at 19750 Stevens Creek Blvd..

According to Ava Liu, the head of operations for Hashi Market, a store of this magnitude is expected to generate employment for approximately 40 to 50 people. The company also has plans for further growth within California, with additional locations anticipated near San Jose and Irvine in the southern part of the state.
