Vintage Strunk Chainsaw Advertising from the 1950s and 1960s

Strunk chainsaws were manufactured in Columbia, Tennessee, during the 1950s and early 1960s.

A smaller American brand, Strunk focused on producing heavy-duty, all-metal saws for professional loggers and farmers. Their chainsaws were rugged but less refined than those from larger competitors like McCulloch or Homelite.

Due to limited production and distribution, Strunk saws are now rare and primarily of interest to vintage chainsaw collectors. The company eventually disappeared as the market shifted toward lighter, more efficient models.

We’re looking at Strunk advertising here, and you can find these original ads for sale on eBay through sellers like these:

Now, let’s get into the ads!

First up is this ad for the Strunk Speedemon Chain Saw.

There were many versions of this saw, but the 83.5 cc original was introduced in 1954 and weighs 27 lbs.

This ad is for the Strunk 3-19 which was made 1952 – 1954.

The 3-19 is a 77cc saw that weighs 28 lbs.

The Big Machete was introduced in 1959. This is a 105 cc saw that weighs 30 lbs.

“The BIG MACHETE – King of the STRUNK line of chain saws.”

This advertising poster showcases Strunk’s 1958 chainsaws:

  • 3.5 hp Machete
  • 3.5 hp Speedemon All Position Deluxe
  • 6 hp Big Machete
  • 4 hp Custom Pro
  • 5.5 hp Big Timer Pro
  • 4 hp Custom Dixie Bow
  • 5.5 hp Big Timber Dixie Bow

Another ad for the Strunk Model 3-19.

And yet another one… “Let this Strunk Chain Saw build profits for you… NOW!”

“You’ll love Strunk (chain saws, of course).”

An iconic Strunk Chainsaw cartoon.

An ad for the P 3-19 and PD 3-19.

These final two Strunk advertising pages come from the Strunk power equipment FB group.

They are showcasing the 1954 model PD 3-19 and P 3-19.
